ViewSonic will be exhibiting its extensive range of LCD displays at this year’s show, as well as demonstrating seven previously unseen screens in the VE series.

The latest releases are aimed at the entry-level market and deliver high quality and performance at an affordable price. In addition, the VX series, which uses an UltraThin form factor for a sleek finish, will be on show, in 15-inch and 17-inch versions.

“The latest models will help secure ViewSonic’s position as the leading vendor for LCD products in the region,” says Ian Gobey, regional sales director, ViewSonic Middle East.

“During 2000 ViewSonic ViewPanel LCD won the only two group tests conducted by leading regional IT titles for quality and performance. Other vendors have put a lot of effort into promoting fringe LCD products and gimmicks such as TV tuners that really address only a small portion of user needs.”

“The combination of range strength, quality and performance are essentially what will determine who are the winners and losers in this category. We need to educate dealers and consumers of the key performance characteristics of the LCD products, as the traditional comparisons of resolution and refresh rate for the CRT monitor are less important. LCD buyers should be looking for contrast ratio, brightness, viewing angle and response speed,” he adds.

The company’s LCD product line expansion is seen as complimentary to a whole range of LCD ViewPanel based devices that will be launched in the MEA region later this year. One such product will be the ViewPad 1000 Tablet PC, which will offer complete network access with built-in WAN, LAN and Wi-Fi wireless LAN connectivity.

Ideally suited for value-added resellers and system integrators selling mobile market applications, the ViewPad 1000 offers mobile access to information, captures, sends and receives live images with its built-in digital camera and features a 10.4-inch high-resolution touch screen for easy navigation.

ViewSonic will also be talking up the arrival of IA computing devices in the home, such as web phones and wireless web pads.

The company is confident that, when this technology wave hits, it will be able to integrate IA electronics into LCD as an all in one product that will feature RF wireless technology and also, potentially, Bluetooth as well.
