Makook.com has appointed Emirates Bank International (EBI) to provide a secure online payment solution for their auction Website, becoming EBI’s first client to receive the EBS pre-authorisation payment gateway service.

“We welcome EBI’s pre-authorisation payment application as it supports highly flexible, scalable, secure electronic payments and further demonstrates the bank’s commitment to develop a safe online marketplace,” said Khalid Al-Tayer, CEO and co-founder of makook.

Winners of Dubai Internet City’s “E-biz Challenge,” and modelled on the United States' ebay.com, makook aims to build an online marketplace offering free web storefront or online sales channels to individuals and businesses across the Middle East.

With the new deal, online buyers and sellers will be able to safely submit their credit card details, which will be transferred and held with EBI rather than being stored on the client’s server.

“EBI’s pre-authorisation payment gateway is a comprehensive e-commerce application, which will inspire confidence in users towards making Internet-based payments," commented Mohammed Al Jallaf, head of EBI's Electronic Banking Services.
