In a new promotional campaign launched this week, British Airways will be raffling off two round tickets Amman-London on the Al-Bawaba network of websites. The campaign will run for one month with eight British Airways tickets to be given away free to the lucky winners in four weekly drawings.

The new British Airways promotion is a first, where a major advertiser entrusts such a campaign exclusively to the Internet in Jordan. “The fact that Internet is seen as an effective promotional tool in and of itself is an important milestone for the Middle East’s advertising market”, according to Al-Bawaba’s director, Hani Jabsheh. “The exclusive use of online advertising by a major player like British Airways shows that online advertising is coming of age in the Middle East region. It signifies the acknowledgment by large international advertisers of the new media’s ability to reach the Arab audience. This is good news not just for Al-Bawaba, but for all of the region’s top websites, who have had to prove themselves as effective means of publicity and promotion.”

Most Internet websites in the world depend on advertising revenues as a major source of their income. The Arabic websites of the Middle East are no exception, and therefore the new British Airways promotional campaign on Al-Bawaba is a welcome omen for all of the region’s websites.

British Airways has been offering daily flights from the Jordanian capital to London Heathrow since 1999. The new promotion aims to increase awareness of the high-traffic service in addition to the full range of British Airways Next Generation products and of the airline’s Executive Club. In order to participate in the prize draw, visitors to the airlines promotional site will have to answer a question about British Airways, the answer to which can be found in the Airline’s promotional material posted on the site. The lucky winners will be drawn at random from the names of all eligible participants, and a new prize draw will take place every week.

Organized by British Airways and by its franchise partner in the
region, British Mediterranean Airways, the promotional contest starts on July 23rd, and will run for one month exclusively on Al-Bawaba, the Middle East’s leading internet network. The promotion website can be seen at www.albawaba.com/public.
