Clipper One Technologies LLC, believed to be the first aviation IT specialist to enter the Middle East, has established regional operations at Dubai Internet City.

The company says it has another ‘first’ planned for Dubai 2001, a bi-annual exhibition for the region’s airline industry which runs November 4-8 this year. There, Clipper One intends to unveil what it calls a ‘critical management tool’ that’s the culmination of years of work between Clipper One Technologies; its German partner, m2p, and a major European airline.

“This new tool will give customers real time comprehensive operational information on anything from aircraft status to crew allocations to maintenance requirements, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Mark Pralle, managing director, Clipper One Technologies.

The mystery product, which sounds like an ERP package for the airline industry, will be unveiled in partnership with the mystery European airline. The company says that a slimline, modular version of the product has been developed for smaller airlines.

“This scalable version, called Volus, allows the monitoring and control of an airline’s fleet from flight scheduling to the current status on individual aircraft, including the allocation of air and ground crews as well as maintenance events. The system is updated every 30 seconds giving users real time information,” said Pralle.

IT looks like it will be one of the major themes at Dubai 2001, which expects to attract over 500 exhibitors and at least 25,000 trade visitors. “I.T. is revolutionising the way industries operate around the world and aviation is no exception,” said Clive Richardson, CEO, Fairs and Exhibitions, the exhibition organiser. “Dubai 2001 will feature cutting edge IT solutions geared towards aviation operations.”
