IBM, Dubai’s Higher Colleges of Technology and Al Futtaim Computer Software Products Company (Afcomp) have formed an alliance to deliver IT to UAE national students.

The alliance will deliver e-learning solutions and provide IBM ThinkPad notebooks, and the recently unveiled Transnote personal computers, to the students of the Higher Colleges of Technology.

Like www.sheikhmohammed.co.ae’s planned online education sector marketplace, this initiative is not, supposedly, about selling technology kit but rather about introducing the regions school children to the wonders of IT.

“We are proud to have Afcomp provide us with IBM products, in our colleges. [Both companies] have been great supporters in our constant endeavor to provide our students with the best in technology,” says Dr.Tayeb Kamali, director of Abu Dhabi men’s college.

“Afcomp has been an IT Solution provider for the last 12 years and is committed to supporting the UAE efforts to gain and retain a competitive edge in the IT field in the Middle East. This initiative with HCT, along with IBM, is a definite step in that direction,” added Wassim Henoud, managing director, Afcomp.
