One of the world’s best loved video games characters has now become the central character of one of Hollywood’s latest ‘blockbuster’ movies. Lara Croft, star of the epic ‘Tomb Raider’ video games series, has made her big screen debut in 'Tomb Raider – The Movie.'

The delightful Lara is played by the equally delightful Academy award winning actress Angelina Jolie.

The film made its regional debut last Saturday at a glittering premiere sponsored by mobile phone giant Ericsson. “Tomb Raider celebrates the triumph of technological sophistication and extreme excitement, both of which are synonymous with Ericsson products,” enthused Mats Paulson, market director, consumer division, Africa & Middle East. “Naturally, we are keen to play a crucial role in welcoming this thrilling masterpiece from Hollywood to the region.”

The movie is being described as a feast of technological sophistication. Action scenes were enhanced using the latest digital editing techniques and an array of Ericsson’s newest mobile technologies and products are on show.

As for the film itself, critical reaction has generally been lukewarm.
