Western Digital has released its FireWire external hard drive, offering a 60 GB capacity with plug-and-play, and hot-swap connectivity that is compatible for both PC and Mac users via a built-in port.

The hard drive is suited to high-speed devices such as digital cameras, digital video camcorders and scanners and provides users with video editing software.

“With the availability of data-rich applications on the Internet and the increased use of digital cameras and camcorders, demand on large storage capacity will dramatically increase,” said Rauf Baig, sales manager, Western Digital ME.
