Acer has unveiled its latest mobile personal computer, the TravelMate 611 TXC. Weighing in at just 2kg and measuring a paltry 24.5mm, the laptop is aimed at the region’s mobile executives.

"TravelMate 611 meets the needs of Middle East-based professionals who want leading performance and features, packaged in a slim, light mobile system they can carry anywhere,” said Eric Tien, managing director, Acer Computer.

The laptop’s magnesium alloy casing houses an Intel Mobile Pentium III 850 MHz processor, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive and 20 GB of memory. Additional features include an internal 10/100M/bits Fast Ethernet connection, a built-in international data/fax modem and smart card security that enables users to lock the system against unauthorized access, as well as encrypt and decrypt files stored in the system. Battery life is 2.5 hours.

“The notebook is the ideal productivity tool for the region’s managers and specialists wanting to stay on top of their work. Acer has always supported the region with best-of-breed, cutting-edge portable computing technology, and the TM 611 best represents this aim,” added Tien.

The TravelMate 611 is available now and comes preloaded with Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition.
