Solutions and distribution company Emitac has purchased technology house Sidco, as part of its regional expansion strategy. Emitac bought a controlling interest in the company to leverage its technical abilities and broaden its product base and market penetration.

Emitac restructured in March, said CEO Suhail Issa, and realised that it needed to diversify if it was to continue to grow its business—the
distribution arm had shown growth of 300% since 1999. “Sidco is well-known in the Middle East, and is very strong in Arabisation, printing solutions and some other niche products,” Issa said.

“More importantly they have regional presence—Sidco will become the platform for taking the technical expertise in both companies across the Middle East.”
