Network equipment provider D-Link is aiming to provide hotels and the tourism sector with wireless networking solutions. The company believes it has found a niche in providing wireless PC cards and nodes to hotels that want to cater to business travellers.

“We are trying to bring the flexibility of wireless Internet to hotels and leisure resorts,” says Wilson Xavier, business and support manager.

The company is developing easy-to-use set-up CDs to make configuration simple, and says it has already had discussions with a hotel chain in Saudi Arabia about deploying wireless.

“There are already three or four solution providers for the tourism sector, but none handle integration of all solutions—this gives us and our partners a chance to address the hotel IT people.”
