OurGulf.com,a Kuwait-based business to consumer portal, has selected Microsoft technologies as its underlying platform. OurGulf intends to offer 100,000 items for sale online by the end of the year.

“Ourgulf.com functions on the premise that high-quality services rely on high-quality processes,” said Fahad Al-Ghunaim, CEO, OurGulf.com. “One of the critical factors in putting an e-business model in place was the choice of a robust technology platform that provides a secure, reliable and scalable backbone,” continued Al-Ghunaim.

Ourgulf.com has been developed using Windows 2000 Advanced Server clusters running Microsoft Commercial Internet Server (MCIS) platform, Microsoft Commerce, SQL Server 7.0 and Internet Information Server.

“Offering a credible online service immediately puts Ourgulf.com in the global marketplace,” said Ali Dalloul, country manager for Microsoft Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar. “Microsoft’s end-to-end e-commerce platform serves as the backbone to this operation, providing a reliable environment that keeps the site up and running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week”

Ourgulf.com supports Arabic and English, plus multiple currencies. Deliveries can be made within 2 hours to one business day in Kuwait and 3-4 business days for international destinations. Order status can also be tracked online.
