Emirates Computers (EC) and the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) have signed an agreement for the installation of an intranet/extranet knowledge management and workflow solution.

The system is based on the LiveLink Product from OpenText. Emirates Computers will also integrate an imaging solution as part of the project and integrate LiveLink with DCA’s Microsoft Office applications.

“This exciting new project is sure to have a great impact on the operations of this airport,” said Ghanim Al Falasi, IT director, Dubai Department of Civil Aviation. “As Dubai continues to develop its role as a leading business and leisure destination, the importance and growth potential of the airport remains an essential asset.

“Dubai International Airport is expected to receive an estimated 30 million passengers by 2010 and we are already halfway there with 14 million expected this year alone. It is imperative that our information systems and technological capabilities match the pressures associated with this degree of growth, and the installation of this system is set to ensure that operations run as efficiently and smoothly as possible.”

LiveLink is a described as a ‘Collaborative Knowledge Management Tool that is 100% Web Centric.’ It includes features related to document management, workflow, search and project collaboration. DCA is the fifth major LiveLink implementation for Emirates Computers in less than a year.
