Avaya is positioning itself to take advantage of the widely predicted boom in Egypt’s IT market. The data networking player recently hosted a seminar with local partner, Orascom Technology Systems (OTS) to educate potential customers about its range of Enterprise Class Internet Protocol Solutions (ECLIPS).

“Our long-standing relationship with OTS allows us to immediately capitalise on the imminent boom expected in Egypt’s IT market, for which our ECLIPS portfolio — designed to help businesses excel in an e-business age — will be a perfect fit," said Walter Koenig, regional managing director, Middle East, North Africa and South Eastern Europe, Avaya.

"Even though Avaya is a new company which only began trading as an independent company on October 2, 2000, our historical presence in Egypt stems back from when we were part of Lucent Technologies. Avaya’s association with OTS stretches back more than ten years and during this time we have claimed market leadership in the PBX space in the country," he added.

The ECLIPS product family includes a number of IP telephony and multi-service networking products, applications and services.

The range of products will be marketed and sold by a 70-man team in Orascom’s Telecom Sales Group.

“This group will market Avaya’s ECLIPS to our business and institutional clients in the country. OTS’ relationship with Avaya is a valuable and perfect match for both organisations to mutually benefit in their collective business objectives,” said Naguib Sawiris, chairman of OTS.
