Business intelligence (BI) software supplier Business Objects has announced a major customer win and agreed to work with colleges in the UAE on supplying content for course programmes.

The vendor said last month it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) to incorporate business management and BI principles into the IT Higher Diploma and Bachelors programmes.

Course content will be reviewed to accommodate industry requirements.

Meanwhile, UMA, the Saudi Arabian dealer for many major automobile brands, has implemented BI to give a better view of the enterprise. The company has deployed Business Objects to identify any waste and inefficiency in its operations.

Mohammed Iftekhar, Saudi Arabia sales manager for Business Objects, said: “They use very industry specific solutions. The objective of BI is to increase their revenue and sales.

“They say they have a wealth of information but they are unable to make the most of it.”

UMA initially deployed BI for particular members of staff and across selected processes.

The implementation was carried out by Business Objects’ partner in Saudi, Albilad Arabia.
