Emirates Group grows profits again

Emirates Group turned in significantly increased profits for the year 2000 yesterday and confirmed plans to boost its fleet size.

Emirates Group yesterday reported year 2000 net profits of AED 531.3 million, 24% year on year growth. Turnover also grew 24%, to reach AED 6.92 billion.

The news was announced by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman, Emirates Group.

Passenger volume grew 19.8% to reach 5.7 million passengers. Cargo carried grew 24.2% to reach 335,914 tonnes.

Future plans include the expansion of the Emirates fleet from 35 planes now to 100 within ten years.
