Solit, a South African IT group, has established its Middle East and North African operations at Dubai Internet City (DIC.)

The three year old, 150 person company describes itself as a specialist in the development and implementation of e-business and enterprise software. Solit Middle East has already modified the company’s Web-based payroll and human resource system for the regional market.

“We chose Dubai because it is the region’s commercial hub and DIC because of its infrastructure and 100% ownership facility which gives us freedom to do business,” said John Willson, Senior Accounts Manager, Solit Middle East. “For a small start-up office the logistics benefits of DIC are impelling because so much is taken care of for tenants.”

The company develops its software for Microsoft’s platforms. In the coming months, it plans to build up multimedia expertise in the area of Macromedia Flash and Director.
