Compaq and Oracle have joined forces to offer a combined e-business infrastructure solution. The partnership will offer Oracle 9i pre-tested and pre-integrated into the Compaq AlphaServer and ProLiant server ranges, to give businesses a rapid-deployment, low cost e-business platform.

The packages are available as part of the E-Business Infrastructure (EBI) Initiative, which combines the engineering expertise of both companies to provide customers with configurations, support, consulting services and reference configurations for e-business infrastructure.

The offerings are suited to small, medium and large sized companies, and are aimed at allowing companies avoid the high costs normally associated with custom-build infrastructures. Configurations will include caching services, portal software and wireless capabilities. A joint protocol for handling customer support requests has also been established.

“Many companies urgently need to Web-enable their environments to become nimble and flexible in decision making and to remove the costs of the development and maintenance of e-business infrastructure,” said Samer Karawi, alliance & global services marketing manager, Compaq Computer Middle East. “Compaq has joined forces with Oracle to offer engineered, integrated and tested solutions for the most demanding e-business environments.”

“This joint initiative and the resulting configurations help decrease the time, cost and resources customers spend in deploying and managing their computing infrastructure, while providing for optimal e-business functionality,” said Ayman Abouseif, marketing director of Oracle Middle East and Africa.

“We’ve extended our relationship with Compaq to offer assurances that together we will provide the complete set of Internet application services provided by Oracle9i, including clustering, data management, portal, wireless, and caching services optimized for Compaq servers.” added Abouseif.
