MobileCom’s roaming capabilities now extend to 39 countries, up from the 25 offered two months ago. The Jordanian GSM operator is looking to top 50 countries within the first half of 2001.

Countries MobileCom has added to its partner list include Qatar, Kazakstan, Georgia, Singapore, Mauritius and South Africa, while European roaming partners include Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Ireland, Moldova, Netherlands, Portugal and Russia.

“MobileCom is increasing the number of roaming partners around the world to ensure that a larger number of countries can be visited using MobileCom GSM lines,” said Yanal Mufti, communications manager at MobileCom. “By facilitating state-of-the-art communications capabilities with global access through a standard MobileCom line, we are able to make communication for a much larger portion of the population simpler and more convenient.”

“MobileCom has succeeded in building up its roaming partner list quickly in a short period of time,” said Zaki Nahhas, international roaming coordinator at MobileCom. “The process takes significant time to finalise as there are technical and financial details to sort out. We hope to maintain this momentum of signing on new partners as it is part of our ongoing effort to cover as many countries as possible for our customers.”
