Microsoft launches License Management Programme

Microsoft GEM is enlisting the help of local solution providers to help carry out its new License Management Programme in the region, helping small-to-medium businesses gain control and knowledge over their software.

Solution providers in the region are to be given a helping hand through the new Microsoft Gulf and Eastern Mediterranean (GEM) License Management Programme.

Intent on giving the region’s small-to-medium businesses a boost, the programme is designed to help businesses gain knowledge and control over their software, using solution providers to carry out the assessment. For now, the programme is targeted at businesses in the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon and Jordan.

Using a Microsoft certified solution provider, companies that hold licensed programmes from the software giant will be assessed in the use of the software. Those that demonstrate compliance with the products will be eligible for the Microsoft License Certification.

“These organisations want better control of their software usage, but many don't know where or how to begin the process. To meet this need, Microsoft has created the Microsoft License Management Programme that will be supported by selected, qualified service providers and will help small and medium-sized businesses gain knowledge and control over software assets,” says Ashok Sharma, small-to-medium business manager, Microsoft GEM.

The programme also provides service providers with the opportunity to offer additional support to help customers with their software asset management needs.

“With the License Management Programme, these businesses will be able to add more value to their operations through effective management of software across all desktops and computer systems, reducing overall costs and providing a more efficient working environment,” says Ayman Al Takrori, SME programs manager, Microsoft GEM.
