Jordan is hosting the Convergence 2001 Forum on 8th February under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah, to discuss the Kingdom’s readiness to deliver an advanced communications infrastructure capable of providing local and international businesses with the tools they need for investment and growth as regionally competitive enterprises.

Participants at the half-day forum will include Accenture, Alcatel, Arab Bank, Cisco, IdealSoft, Int@j, Jordan Telecom, Microsoft and The Ministry of Post and Communications, with panel moderators representing national GSM network operator MobileCom and key Jordanian legal resource Obeidat, Freihat and Hadidi.

Speakers include Pierre Mattei, CEO of Jordan Telecom, Michel Bon, president of France Telecom, H.E. Dr. Fawaz H. Zu’bi, Minister of Post & Communications, and a progress report on Jordan’s IT initiative (REACH 2.0) by Karim Kawar, chairman of Information Technology Association – Jordan (Int@j).

The event will involve two panels, one reviewing the technologies that drive the global adoption of IT and new business opportunities, while the second panel session will focus on the steps that need to be taken to drive the adoption of technology for business and government.

“Our commitment to His Majesty encompasses three key points; to transform Jordan’s telecommunications industry to a market driven sector, to provide state of the art technology and services, and to establish Jordan as a communications centre to attract the investments needed to fuel the economy’s growth,” said Pierre Mattei, CEO of Jordan Telecom.

The Convergence 2001 Forum is an invitation only event. For information on how to attend the event, call + 9626-5152322.
