Veritas has announced an addition to its range of solutions to protect corporate data on Unix-based desktops and notebooks. Veritas NetBackup Professional 3.1 provides a range of backup and storage facilities for Unix and Windows-based servers. The new version also includes additional functions such as one click back-up, central back-up administration, and backup load balancing over multiple servers.
“VERITAS NetBackup Professional for Windows has been well-received in the market since its initial release last year. The next logical step for the product was to introduce a UNIX server component,” said Neal Ater, senior vice president, Data Protection Product Group, VERITAS Software. “By implementing VERITAS NetBackup Professional on either a Windows- or Solaris-based server, organizations benefit from the scalability and the flexibility that modern desktop and mobile laptop data protection strategies demand. VERITAS NetBackup Professional eliminates the huge risk of unprotected desktop and mobile data and ensures that organizations have consistent company-wide data protection.”
