The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) and OurGulf have signed an agreement to offer Internet users a new, secure e-commerce site in Kuwait.

The e-commerce site, OurGulf.com, is set to launch in mid-February and claims to have over 50 merchants selling up to 30,000 products and services online. NBK’s role in the site is to provide the secure infrastructure that will allow consumers to pay online with any credit card.

Fahad Al Ghunaim, chairman of OurGulf.com, believes this e-commerce solution can compete favourably with anything else in the region in terms of customer service. “We have agreements signed with logistics companies who will guarantee delivery of products direct to the customer’s doors,” he said.

Issam Al Sager, deputy chief general manager of NBK believes the agreement will help compliment the banks e-banking, e-trading and m-banking services. “This agreement further demonstrates the commitment that NBK is making to our customers and the State of Kuwait through supporting and developing e-commerce,” he said.
