Canon is gunning straight for the home user and small businesses with its latest space-saving but high-tech flatbed scanner range. The scanners are only as wide as an A4 page, and an inch high, but still feature resolutions from 300 x 600 to 1220 x 2400 dpi (optical)
with 42-bit colour depth.

“Recent Canon studies have revealed that as PCs become more and more widespread there is less space for peripherals on the desktop. Our new scanner range meets the need for more compact models, making them ideal for homes and offices where space is at a premium,” said Michel Sabbagh marketing manager for Canon ME.

The new range includes models with parallel or USB ports and some with film scanning capabilities, with technology aimed at business users such as LIDE (LED Indirect Exposure): the use of low voltage LED technology. Such low energy consumption allows the USB LIDE models to be powered directly from a USB port eliminating the need for additional power cables, according to Canon.

The scanners all feature simple and advanced mode driver interfaces and Canon’s ScanGear Toolbox software enabling images to be scanned straight into an application, printed or emailed at the click of a button.
