Etisalat has turned to Alcatel to provide multiservice access nodes as part of its ongoing fibre-optic network rollout. Etisalat is deploying 200 fibre-based network nodes in Dubai and Abu Dhabi this year.

Alcatel’s solution delivers the ability to integrate different narrowband and broadband services as well as different transport technologies like SDH or PDH managed by a single network management system.

This will give Etisalat the ability to deliver multiple services to an area from a single node. “It is an “invest as you grow” solution delivering any combination of voice and data services for residential and business, serving the always-changing narrowband and broadband needs of end-users in a smooth, seamless way,” said Luis Martinez Amago, Alcatel's Vice-President for Wireline Access.

“We are very happy to have been selected by a world-class operator such as Etisalat. It confirms Alcatel Litespan as a leading solution for high-speed network access. Its capacity to work in a multi-vendor environment has been a key element in the decision,” he added.
