Emirates Bank International deploys automated backup system

STME has provided Emirates Bank International with an automated tape backup system for its data centre

Enterprise storage solution provider STME has announced a deal to provide Emirates Bank International with a major back up system. The package includes automated tape libraries, tape drives and storage software for two of EBIs data centres in the UAE. The system, which combines solutions from Veritas, Storage Tek, Computer Network Technology, LXI Software and M4Data, will be used to back-up customer data and financial information.

Abdulla Qassem, EBI’s chief manager, group information technology, commented: "We at EBI are always looking towards automated IT processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in supporting the delivery of our business objectives. The STME enterprise storage deal is a step towards full-robotics and automated operations at our data centres, starting with centralised automated storage and retrieval of data on the multiple and diversified platforms, giving us a substantial time savings on backups."
