The digital animation and special effects industry has received a boost with the news that Haroun Multimedia has decided to restructure its business platform in Dubai Internet City on Intel Pentium III Xeon processor-based servers and Intel based PCs.

Haroun Multimedia is an animation production studio based in Dubai and serves the animation requirements of the advertising production community. It recently produced the Dubai Summer Surprises 2000 TV commercial. Managing director, Wassim Haroun believes that the new Intel servers will improve Haroun’s capacity allowing the company to grow.

“Our Intel processor-based rendering farm, along with the high bandwidth availability in the Dubai Internet City is going to allow us to offer rendering and processing services to all the industries that have massive processing requirements, including video, animation and Internet broadcast compression,” he said.

HMM had identified its main need as building a streamlined distributed networking environment in order to continue its recent strong growth. This meant it needed to push its hardware resources to get the most out of them and also demand better performance from its IT infrastructure. With the new distributed rendering strategy, and the ability to organically grow the render farm capability by merely plugging in more off-the-shelf systems from Intel, HMM will be able to expand its services and meet customer needs and European or US standards.
