MenaBusiness has entered the region's business to business (B2B) portal market, with an offering that combines content and a marketplace function.

The site envisions itself as a way for the region's businesses to extend their reach both inside and outside the Middle East, and for businesses outside to find partners and opportunities here.

According to founder & CEO Simon Rowe, “The Internet offers the MENA region a major opportunity to accelerate regional competitiveness and business efficiency. Our mission is to add the undoubted benefits of the new economy to the tremendous business potential that already exists in the region.

"The 21 countries to be covered by MenaBusiness comprise a total population of around 500 million people, close to that of Europe and the US combined. We see a real opportunity to help transform the MENA business environment.”

The site's content will include daily news, a recruitment function and country-specific information designed for businesspeople.

MenaBusiness is based in Geneva with offices planned for Dubai and London. It intends to have its coverage of all 21 countries in place by the end of the year.
