Emirates Media Inc (EMI), the Abu Dhabi based media conglomerate, and the Western entertainment provider Showtime have concluded an agreement to bring Abu Dhabi Sports back to the NileSat satellite.

The deal ensures that all Abu Dhabi Sports premium, exclusive and live sports event coverage will be available to all television viewers with digital satellite dishes directed at Nilesat, while Italian Serie A football will be encrypted and available to all active Showtime subscribers.

The new Serie A season kicks-off tomorrow, September 30.

Abu Dhabi Sports, which could be renamed as part of the deal, offers a strong schedule of sporting events and sports news telecast to the Middle East and viewers will have the choice of listening to live commentary in either Arabic or English for most events.

The channel will broadcast live NBA basketball games and top European football, including live and in-depth coverage of the Italian Serie A football league and live matches from the French and Portuguese leagues throughout the season.

The deal was announced by Ahmad Ali M. Al-Bloushi, General Manager, EMI and Cliff Nelson, Senior Vice President - Marketing and Network Development, Showtime, at the contract signing held in Abu Dhabi.
