Web services firm, SeraNova has been selected by the government-owned Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to strengthen its customer and supplier relations through a comprehensive Web platform.

SeraNova is building the DEWA site primarily using Microsoft Active Server Pages.

“To a large extent, we are technology-agnostics, but after sitting down with [DEWA], we figured out that Microsoft is the computing environment most suitable for this project,” says Ashok Tantry, associate director of sales at SeraNova.

SeraNova’s hybrid on-site and off-site delivery model was instrumental in sealing the deal, both sides say.

“We selected SeraNova to assist us because of their technical expertise and their proven ability to design, build and deliver secure and scalable portal solutions,” says Saeed Al-Tayer, DEWA’s general manager. “DEWA is eager to adopt the best of the best practices followed by leading utilities worldwide,” he says.

The Web site that SeraNova is building for DEWA is, according to Tantry, viewed as a model for other Dubai businesses and government departments that have a need to use the Internet for improved customer service, partner relationship management and integration with other agencies.
