BBC Resources Consultancy and Projects, your mission, should you choose to accept is this...

Turn a blank area of floor space within Sydney International Broadcast Centre (Sydney IBC) into a high tech studio and production area.

The facility will serve as home for the BBC's coverage of the Sydney 2000 Olympics to be featured on both BBC1 and BBC 2.

You must also build a base for BBC News.

The equipment within the facility will meet the needs of 350 BBC staff.

This message will self destruct in five…four….

BBC Resources Consulting and Projects (C & P) is more than experienced at providing state-of-the-art broadcasting facilities for BBC Sport.

Hot on the heals of the Euro 2000 football tournament in Amsterdam, C & P has been tasked with building a high-tech studio and production area to provide coverage for all 2000 Olympic Games output on BBC ONE and BBC TWO.

For three weeks in September the entire production of Olympic coverage will move to Sydney and C & P is responsible for planning, building and equipping the facilities required to meet the needs of the BBC staff.

On your marks....

The project began almost 18 months before the actual event, with C & P advising BBC Sport on budgets for the kind of facilities they might require within the Sydney IBC.

Once the amount of space available to the BBC had been agreed, C & P designed the building construction within the BBC space and the VT recording facilities, which are being provided in-house.

C & P also wrote detailed specifications for the studios and central routing facilities, in order to put these elements of the project out to tender.

After selecting a suitable contractor, the C & P team, consisting of four core staff, worked with them to manage the project throughout.
