ART (The Arab Radio and Television Satellite Network) has expanded its satellite bouquet after completing a deal with Turner Broadcasting System (TBS).

The DTH operator has signed a multi-year agreement that will see CNN International, Cartoon Network and TCM (Turner Classic Movies) become available as three separate 24 hour channels across the Middle East on both Arabsat and NileSat satellites.

“Turner and ART have enjoyed a fruitful relationship for many years. We are very pleased that ART will now distribute CNN, Cartoon Network and TCM as full 24-hour channels”, said Ron Ciccone, Vice President and Managing Director for Turner’s operations in the Middle East.

“ART is extending its bouquet across the Middle East and the inclusion of CNN along with an extended Cartoon Network and TCM is welcomed by all viewers” said Dr John Tydeman CEO of Arab Digital Distribution, the bouquet management and distribution company for the ART Network.

CNN International broadcasts on cable and satellite in English to more than six million households in the region and is serviced by three local CNN bureaux, Cairo, Beirut and Jerusalem.

It also has an extensive network of television and radio affiliates in the area who help provide CNN with its distinctive ability to provide live ‘breaking news’ from the Middle East.
