HP: no OfficeJet W2K drivers

Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet users will have to suffer another delay in the release of a Windows 2000 driver for some of their models, with no concrete date for a release in sight.
Drivers for the older 500, 600 and 700 series all-in-one products were originally scheduled for release last month, but now the HP website shows no firm delivery date at all, instead promising a beta driver will be made available “as soon as possible.”
To be exact, here is what the HP site has to say: “The HP All-In-One Product division had hoped to post the Windows 2000 beta software for several products starting today July 10 for the OfficeJet 700.
"Unfortunately, that date will slip due to several technical issues surrounding the OfficeJet 500/600/700 software architecture.
HP is not yet satisfied with the technical quality of the OfficeJet Windows 2000 software at this point.
"As soon as a viable beta candidate is available, it will be posted in this space, so continue to check back to this Web site for more details.
"In the meantime, you can use your product under Windows 2000 by following the guidelines in the article located here.
"We apologise for the delay in providing Windows 2000 software for the 500/600, and 700. We read each and every comment posted on this site, and we know many customers having been waiting patiently for a long time for the Windows 2000 software.”
