Emirates Computers (EC) shook on an agreement with e-business software provider Vignette, in the latest move by this local organisation to become an e-business integration leader.

In recent weeks, this high-end integration player announced a dedicated division which would focus on e-government infrastructure solutions.

“Our partnership with a company like Vignette is not only of great importance to Emirates Computers,” said Hani Harik, president of Emirates Computers.

“The availability of Vignette products in the UAE and the Middle East is of vital interest to any business that wishes to remain competitive on the Internet and increase service to its customers.

Vignette is ideally positioned to expand the opportunities of so many businesses in this region by allowing them to do so much more with their individual sites,” he added.

“Vignette believes that this region offers enormous potential for e-business applications and that the market is set to grow dramatically during 2000. As with any venture, it is important to seek the assistance of those who have the expertise and respect of the local market, and we have found that with Emirates Computers,” said Nick Fletcher of Vignette.

E-development Solutions

In the mean time, Jordanian VAR CEB joined forces with Rational Software Corporation last month, a maker of high-end software development tools. Together the companies say they will be able to roll out a new set of services and software engineering best practices to local and regional organisations.

According to Rational Software, its e-development solution is designed to help organisations overcome the paradox of accelerating time to market while improving quality.
