Turkish Radio-Television Corporation (TRT), Turkey's national broadcaster, has become the first station in the region to purchase Inspiration, the Quantel-OmniBus integrated news production system.

The installation of Inspiration is the first step in the broadcaster's move towards a non-linear, tapeless environment and is testament to the rise of digital broadcasting in the region.

The Inspiration at TRT is centred around a Quantel Clipbox embedded editing server. The complete system will integrate with TRT's existing AP Electronic News Production System (ENPS) at its front end with 25 journalist off-line browse and edit stations providing access to material stored in the Clipbox.

Frame accurate shot selection and editing will be done at the journalists' PCs via an OmniBus Hy-Brow browse server.
Craft editing is enabled by three embedded editing seats working directly with the material held on the Clipbox.

Automated Control

A standalone Editbox will be linked via Cliplink and will provide independent, fast non-linear, on-line editing for pre- and post-production of material. Automated control of acquisition, playout and asset management will be provided by OmniBus.

Systems integration will be carried out by TRT under advice from Quantel.

TRT conducted extensive research into available options and the Quantel-OmniBus Inspiration system was chosen for its high reliability, powerful editing and fast networking.

Quantel Marketing Director, Nigel Turner comments: "Inspiration continues to be purchased by customers who demand the best possible flexibility, reliability and value in a news production system. Its scaleable nature makes it suited to large, national broadcasters such as TRT through to smaller regional operations."
