If you thought 3Com is slowing, you’re wrong. According to the company’s local channel marketing manager Matt Walmsley, 3Com is throwing out its net once more, for a set of resellers skilled in 3Com’s new focus areas in order to boost the entrenched partner base.

“We are not just going for people who sell networks already, we are looking resellers that are perhaps software resellers that have a business solution. We can then say, if you are selling a server and you don’t know too much about networking, we’re a very easy company to work with on networks,” he said.

Walmsley also spoke about 3Com’s recognition of its need for its people to improve on their personal relationships with the channel. “It used to be that we’d send a fax shot to resellers, they could look at our Web site and they really never go to know anyone at 3Com. We are going to try and lock ourselves in on marketing, training and technical support for our resellers,” he said.

3Com will open an office in Egypt this September, and said that a Saudi Arabian office is in the pipeline.
