IBM has paid US$65million to 32,000 of its technology workers who claimed the company illegally withheld overtime pay.

Three of the workers filed a lawsuit against the company in January claiming they were forced to work over 40 hours a week and on weekends but received no compensation in return. According to the lawyer, the workers will receive between US$50 and tens and thousands of dollars depending on how many extra hours they had worked.

When contacted by news agency The Associated Press, IBM spokesman Michael Maloney would not comment on whether the legal settlement would affect the company’s earnings.

The firm released a statement saying that it had established a provision for the settlement of the case in the third quarter of this year.
