Saudi Arabia\'s second mobile operator Mobily has enjoyed a 74% growth rate in the four months to end-October, setting a record for the fastest growth rate in the Middle East mobile phone sector, according the GSM Association. The news came in the wake of Mobily\'s launch of 3G services back in June, which saw the telco offer video communications and high-speed internet, as well as allowing subscribers to watch TV channels live on their mobile devices, including the Al Arabiyah channel, CNBC Arabiya, Saudi TV, and Space Toon. Mobily also became the first Saudi operator to introduce the Blackberry wireless platform in the kingdom in September. The cost of video telephony is 0.80 halalas (US$0.20) per minute for postpaid subscribers, while the streaming of TV content costs Riyal 1 per minute. 3G subscribers are not required to pay a monthly subscription fee to utilise the services. Domestically, Mobily\'s 3G network extends to 15 cities, and consists of more than 900 base stations.
