Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS), the Middle East market development partner for BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM), has struck a deal with telco Batelco to launch the hugely popular push e-mail devices in Bahrain. “BlackBerry is the must-have business tool for mobile e-mail and communications,” said Ahmed Al Janahi, corporate affairs general manager at Batelco. “Business users can never underestimate the importance of staying in touch while on the go. BlackBerry can help businesses outperform their competition by increasing user productivity and efficiency, and enhancing customer service.” The first BlackBerry device launched in Bahrain is the 8700g, which offers users secure wireless access to e-mail, phone, internet, SMS, organiser and corporate data applications. The solution is available immediately in Batelco shops and also through Batelco account managers for corporate customers. Batelco joins a growing list of operators deploying BlackBerry solutions in the Middle East as EMS delivers on its promise to make the service more widely available across the region. Saudi Arabia’s Mobily has already introduced the BlackBerry wireless platform, as have Etisalat and Emitac in the United Arab Emirates (to the corporate market only at present).
