Networking services provider Dimension Data has picked up two awards at Cisco’s 2006 Sub-Saharan Africa partner summit for its role in driving sales of the vendor’s solutions.

The company scooped the Cisco Gold Partner of the Year and IP Communications Partner of the Year titles at the annual bash, which was held at Mount Grace.

“The past year has been a tremendously successful year with Cisco.

We are continuously striving to ensure that we deliver best of breed technology solutions,” said Ian Roy, general manager of Dimension Data’s network solutions business unit.

“The accolade of IP Communications Partner of the Year for the sixth consecutive year bears testimony to our commitment in delivering advanced Cisco solutions to the African market.”

Converged Communications continues to be a key driver for Dimension Data with the migration towards unified IP based networks.

The 8,600-strong firm, which posted sales of more than US$2 billion last year, operates in more than 30 countries around the world.

In addition to eight facilities in its native South African market, the company also has offices in Algeria, Botswana, Kenya, Nigeria Tanzania and Uganda.
