Printing specialist Xerox is to acquire privately-held firm XMPie, a provider of variable information software, for US$54million.

The software will allow Xerox — XMPie’s largest reseller — to create marketing material that includes each individual’s name along with information and images based on buying preferences and personal interests.

The software is combined with digital printing systems such as Xerox’s iGen3 Digital Production Press to produce customised marketing material in high quantities.
