The largest mobile provider in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, i2, has announced the launch of its operations in Sudan.

The firm will introduce its retail concept and after-sales services for the first time in the country.

It is the first authorised Nokia distributor and service centre in Sudan as well as the first to offer mobile subscribers Nokia devices.

The company’s services will be available through its showroom, distribution network and service centre.

“Africa is an important market for i2. It is our goal to make sure that Africa’s growing market is provided with the best products and services available. Therefore we are planning to continue making substantial investments into Sudan and other countries across the continent,” stated Bashar AlKadhi, vice president of Africa — i2 Group.

The firm said it plans to expand its operation throughout Sudan over the next year to include Bahri, Im Dourman and Kalaka.

The mobile operator has already opened a branch in the state of Adbara.

Earlier this year i2 finalised a content aggregation agreement with Nokia, that will result in the combination of i2 club, a catalogue of content, and Nokia’s Content Discoverer, an on-device content portal that makes it easy for users to access content catalogues.
