SONY ERICSSON has teamed with watchmaker Fossil to develop a range of bluetooth-enabled wristwatches that work in conjunction with Sony Ericsson’s range of mobile handsets. The watches provide full remote control of bluetooth-enabled handsets, enabling the user to answer and end calls, view caller ID on incoming calls and access a range of bluetooth features.

“Together, we have created a way to take control and simplify your mobile life,” said Husni El Assi, general manager of Sony Ericsson, Middle East and North Africa.

“The Bluetooth watch represents the best of both the world of fashion in its classic design and the world of technology in its innovative functionality.

That synergy will change users’ relationships with their mobile phones.”

Bill Geiser, vice president of Fossil, claimed the bluetooth enabledwatches provided a convenient and efficient way for users to stay connected without compromising fashion. “Watches are the perfect ‘glanceable’ display. They are simple to use, fashionable, and well accepted,” he said.

“The immediate opportunity is for watches to deliver convenient new services that simplify how people stay connected with each another.”

The wristwatch range will be stocked by Fossil’s retail partners located in more than 90 countries worldwide, in addition to authorised Sony Ericsson dealers.

The range is also available for purchase online at
