JEBEL ALI-BASED TV manufacturer KTV plans to shake up the LCD TV market in the Middle East by expanding its product portfolio and pursuing an aggressive marketing campaign.

KTV general manager Saad Omar revealed the company’s regional strategy at the recent unveiling of its flagship 42-inch LCD multi-screen TV in Dubai.

He confirmed that the company was in the final stages of securing channel distribution deals in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Yemen, in addition to Indonesia, Ivory Coast and Ghana.

The new distribution deals represent a significant shift in strategy for KTV, which has to date employed a “direct marketing approach” tailored specifically to the markets of the GCC.

Omar argued that this strategy still had merit in terms of dealing with specific market demand in countries across the region.

“A direct marketing and sales approach provides us with an edge over our competitors,” he said.

“By dealing with consumers directly we can provide them with special pricing and instalment payment schemes.”

Omar maintained this strategy enabled KTV to customise its approach when dealing with specific client requests.

“We can offer good pricing margins to vendors, the best prices to end-user clients and quality services to both parties,” he said.

KTV commenced manufacturing a range of LCD TVs at its Jebel Ali-based facility in September.

Omar said he expected the factory to hit full capacity in May 2007, at which point the facility would also produce LCD TVs on an OEM basis for partners based in Iran, Egypt and Morocco.

The factory’s output will include a range of LCD TVs ranging in size from 15 to 42-inches. Omar also anticipated that 2007 would see KTV add 50- and 60-inch LCD TV models to its product portfolio.

“Our company is dedicated to manufacturing and marketing a wide range of advanced and reliable flat panel display televisions at reasonable prices, and providing quality services to our clients in the Middle East,” claimed Omar.

“We place strong emphasis on craftsmanship and our commitment to the region by forging strong partnerships with key distributors in various countries.”
