Egyptian mobile operator Mobinil has deployed McAfee's security risk management (SRM) solution to integrate and manage security risks on an enterprise level.

While the telco had previously been using various security tools from different vendors, it felt, as its business grew, security management was becoming a more serious issue, according to Hesham Rashed, senior manager of IT operations at Mobinil.

"This expansion of business made it difficult to manage complex security situations. It was time to have a comprehensive security solution on the enterprise level," he said.

Mobinil said McAfee's Foundstone SRM solution helped it to address security issues within its departments, as well as bringing its sub-regional and remote offices up to the desired security level needed and eliminating all respective threats.

Mobinil can now monitor its security reports and check where vulnerabilities occur in its network, allowing it to protect itself at all times, McAfee claimed.

"With the addition of our SRM solution to their existing platforms, Mobinil can easily identify and eliminate security threats, which means their infrastructure will remain protected," said Asem Galal, McAfee's regional general manager.

Enteprises around the world are increasingly moving to risk management as a more effective and realistic way to tackle security threats, based on detailed risk assessment for each organisation.
