BlackBerry set to debut in Bahrain

Batelco has forged a deal with Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS), the Middle East market development partner for BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM), to launch the wireless devices in Bahrain.

The first BlackBerry device launched in Bahrain is the 8700g, which offers users secure wireless access to e-mail, phone, internet, SMS, organiser and corporate data applications. The solution is available immediately in Batelco shops and also through Batelco account managers for corporate customers.

Al Wathba for Central Services has signed an agreement with 3i Infotech to enhance its technology platform with a contemporary enterprise solution and enable it to deliver better customer services. Al Wathba said it would soon announce several features to enhance its product and services including an innovative customer login portal for accessing e-services.

Mozilla has unveiled ‘Release Candidate 1’ (RC1) of its Firefox 2.0 web browser, bringing its anticipated ‘gold’ launch one step closer. This latest Firefox version includes a session restore feature, which will reload browser windows, tabs and downloads in the event of a crash.

2.0 also offers built-in phishing protection, which is designed to check URLs against a list of known phishing sites.

This feature is available in Opera 9, and will be included in the upcoming Internet Explorer 7.
