Adobe Systems has partnered with distributor Aptec to expand its reach in the Middle East and capitalise on the growing demand for multimedia software.

Under the terms of the agreement, announced last week, Aptec will directly handle sales and technical support for Adobe throughout the Middle East, selling the software firm's desktop solutions as full package products, and through its transactional licensing programme (TLP) and contractual licensing programme (CLP).

Adobe said the need to expand its channel reflected the strong growth it has experienced in recent years - over 50% year-on-year.

"We decided to partner with Aptec as it not only provides us with the breadth and bandwidth within the regional channel network, but will also provide world-class services to our customers and cater to our expanding product lines, including the growing consumer multimedia sector," said Andrew Lindstrom, Adobe regional manager for MEA.

Aptec, which was chosen from a shortlist of eight distributors, said the convergence of communications technologies and the increasing availability of broadband would drive growth in the multimedia market.
