Green Packet Network (GPN) has rolled out a wireless product range in the region offering multimedia services.

The wireless broadband technology provider, which launched its Bahrain-based operations in February, said last week the self-organising network (SON) line was targeted at telcos, enterprises and mobile work groups.

"This is a great opportunity to enhance the regional communications capabilities, as Green Packet provides high value integrated wireless solutions specifically designed for the MENA region," said Ali Al Mashat, Chairman of GPN.

The product line includes the SONaccess, SONbuddy, and SONmetro.

The SONbuddy is a software platform designed to enable a WiFi-equipped device to form a SON without the need for an access point or other wireless infrastructure. SONaccess is a solution for secure roaming between different WLAN networks, and between WLAN and wide-area networks. SONmetro is a mesh-network solution over WiFi.
