FSC launches call centre operation

Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) has set up a call centre for customers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The move is part of a push by the German PC manufacturer to improve customer satifaction levels in the region's two biggest markets.

The centre, officially launched in March, will act as an initial point of contact for both corporate and consumer customers prior to visiting a service partner; previously only partners handled after-sales support.

FSC has outsourced the operation to Emirates Bank Group subsidiary Buzz Contact Centre Solutions, which works with a number of leading financial institutions in the region, as well as UAE operator du.

Aiham Al-Akhras, FSC service manager for the Middle East, told IT Weekly the computer vendor had plans to roll out the service to the rest of the region over the next two years.

Six agents currently staff the centre, and Al-Akhras said this number is likely to rise as call volumes increase.

"It is an important factor that we grow in all areas, not only in sales. We have to also grow in service because service is becoming more and more important to Middle East customers," Al-Akhras said.

"Customers are realising it is not only the product that matters any more, it is also the service attached to it. So we don't only want to meet expectations of the customer, but we want to move a step ahead," he added.

The setting up of the centre follows the opening last year of a computer assembly plant at Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone in partnership with PWC Logistics - FSC's first assembly plant outside Germany.
