Etisalat has partnered with IT services firm Tawasul Telecom on virtual private network (VPN) services.

The agreement between Etisalat and the Kuwaiti firm will enable the UAE telco to provide its business customers in the GCC access to internet protocol (IP) VPN services through Tawasul's multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network.

Etisalat said it would be able to offer its customers secure and reliable connectivity as a result of the agreement.

Etisalat and Tawasul will launch joint programmes to offer the services, for which the operator claimed there is a growing demand in the UAE and wider Gulf region.

"Etisalat is very pleased at signing this agreement with Tawasul Telecom to extend the benefits of IP VPNs to our customers in the Gulf region, enabling them to increase their productivity and efficiency by removing the limitations of distance," Abdulla Hashim, vice president of enterprise solutions at Etisalat, said in a statement.
