UAE is still a telecom monopoly! Both are effectively state owned!

And both are inept. It took Etisalat almost 2 weeks to fix my internet line fault! In the real world this would never happen and i'd be entitled to at least 6 months free surfing!! And DU still doesn't have ISP outside of TECOM and Emaar!

I work in the Media City and I can't take toll free calls there because (a) DU can't do it and (b) because DU won't give me the no objection letter that etisalat to come into the TECOM area!! Their "dog in the manger" attitude in complete conflict with the internation image that Dubai is trying project!

How can it not be a monopoly when choices are still limited? We need a gobal telecom player in here before it becomes a monopoly.

And don't even get me started on VOIP!
